Last Thursday we finally the long-overdue-schedule of cleaning the ears by the ENT doctor was done, but…
Yes, there’s a BUT.
But… the doctor only get to clean the right side and not the left side, the problem ear. We all thought Little Zoie is liking the cleaning she’s getting. The doctor was using a tube with air sucking the earwax build up. As soon as the doctor finished the right ear and starting on the left one, she started to cry again! She said it hurts…
The doctor said she’s not liking the noise she’s hearing from her ear, sucking thingy, because the doctor tested the air tube to her arm just to get the feel that it doesn’t hurt a bit. Maybe she didn’t get comfortable with the cleaning process, that’s my guess. So, again the ‘softie’ parents made the doctor stop and reschedule the cleaning for the left ear.

Wrong move.
Because last Sunday, the little girl was feeling pain on her left ear.
She’s crying when she woke up that her ear hurts. As I checked it, it was all red inside. :-( Good thing, I have the doctor’s # and asked him what to do since we can’t see him in the clinic because he doesn’t have any schedule on Sunday. He’ll be checking in on Monday morning. He told me to subside the fever first, because he still need see the ear first before prescribing any medicine. That’s what I did the whole Sunday. I also, talked to her about what’s happening and why is it happening. I told her that since she’s not letting the doctor clean her ear, she can feel the pain the infection brings. I tried to make her understand the consequences if we are not following what the doctor is telling us to do. Only the doctor can make the pain go away.
Yesterday, first thing I did was to get Little Zoie ready for another check up. I told her if the doctor said to clean her ears, she needs to be brave and let the doctor clean it. She said yes, but with teary eyes. When we got to the clinic, there are other patients lined up to see him before us.
When it was our turn for the check up, the good doctor greeted the little girl and asked her to sit down on the patient’s chair with hubby, while I told him what happened. After looking inside the left ear, the doctor said that it was an infection. The left ear really needs cleaning but since it got infected and she’s having fever, we need to subdue the fever and the infection first before cleaning it. He gave the needed prescription, antibiotic and pain reliever, before bidding us good bye.
But since the doctor touched the hurting ear, Little Zoie’s tears she was holding back finally let out when hubby and her stood up from the patient’s chair. To make Little Zoie stop crying, hubby promised that we’ll let her play the bowling game she like playing in the mall. That means after the check up, we head off to the nearest mall to fulfill hubby’s promise. The little one stop crying.
We ate lunch first before letting her play, but instead of bowling she ended up riding kid’s ATV. We made her choose to play only one because she’s still not feeling better and we need to buy her meds. But of course, as a little consolation of letting the doctor check her ear, we let her play for a while, let her have fun. :-)

Of course, she’ll choose the pink ride.
As soon as she drank all her meds when we arrived home that afternoon, I made her take her afternoon nap. That afternoon nap came good to her. Finally she got her well-rested sleep because she didn’t get to sleep because of the pain the previous night.
The night came and she was feeling better already…

We need to continue her meds until tomorrow. I pray that her ear be healed and asked to give her bravery to face her fear of cleaning her ear (by the doctor).
