Went Out For Check Up

Since Little Zoie’s fever is running it’s third day (yes, first cough now it added fever), it’s high time for her to go see a pedia.  Her usual pedia, Dra. Baltazar, doesn’t have a schedule to go to the nearest clinic, so I decided to find another one instead of waiting for another day to have a check-up.

The pedia, Dra. Javier, is as accommodating as Dra. Baltazar.  She even called Little Zoie ‘anak ko’ when she was telling her to come to her.  I noticed that she’s gentle with kids and very thorough.  Although she has diagnosed that Little Zoie has flu only, she wanted to make sure that there’s no possible Dengue since it is as common as flu nowadays. She asked as to have Little Zoie’s blood extracted for CBC.  She also wanted to know if she’s going to give antibiotics, so to make sure she also wanted a URINALYSIS.

Little Zoie took all the tests needed this morning.  Though we had a really ‘huge fight’ on extracting her blood because she suddenly got scared.  Good thing, I asked my little sister to come with us to help me over with my daughter if the doctor needs something.  After all the screaming and fighting my hold, the medical people in the lab finally got some blood.  ^_^

The results came out after 30 minutes and was read by the pedia.  Thank GOD, that everything is A-okay with Little Zoie just a viral infection, the flu.  She just prescribed to increase the dosage of the paracetamol, the dosage I was giving her was not appropriate for her weight.  She also recommends to continue drinking Carbocisteine, Solmux, up to five days only.  After five days, Saturday, we need to stop it, even though she still has cough.

What made me like about the doctor is she will not just prescribed medicines unless needed.  She didn’t actually prescribed any cough medicine for Little Zoie because she said cough medicines does not that really make coughs go away.  It will just help the phlegm to loosen, and that’s all.  The cough is still there.  She said it will eventually heal all by itself.

I quite agree because whenever I catch cough, I really don’t drink cough medicine even though hubby and everyone else (except my father) is telling me to drink meds.  I am more concern of having liver problems for drinking meds to sickness that doesn’t really that important to drink medicines with.  Do you get me?  An ample amount of water and fruits will sufficed actually.

So, by tomorrow, Saturday, I will refrain giving Little Zoie her cough medicine and simply give her more liquids and fruits.  ^_^
